Green Design

I like design. Good, functional, minimalistic, environmentally sound design, that is. Like this.

Source.

A propellor in the top which powers a lightbulb, made for apartment balconies in urban areas. I love it, and if it would be available in Finland, our balcony would have one - Tampere is after all, the windy city. Here's more information in case you're curious.

Another example, on a bigger scale, is Light Wind from Demakersvan. It is an outside lamp, and the makers took inspiration from the Dutch Windmills. Again, if I'd own a house with garden, Light Wind definitely would find a space in it.

And even bigger is Windside, a company from Finland, which makes very functional, low impact wind turbines (sadly their website is terrible and usually kills any browser, but check out the article I wrote about them on ArcticStartup) for summer cottages and the like. I also would have one of these on my house or summer cottage, if I had one =)

It is refreshing to see such fresh takes on established products, and make them greener and better. I like that.
